CHOOSE THE RIGHT HEIGHT OF LADDER
- The highest permitted standing level on a step ladder is two steps down from the top of the ladder. Users who stand higher than the permitted level may lose their balance and fall.
- The maximum safe reaching height for the users is approximately 4′ higher than the height of the ladder. For example, a typical user can safely reach an 8′ ceiling on a 4′ step ladder.
- Extension ladders should be 7 to 10 feet longer than the highest support or contact point, which may be the wall or roofline. This will allow a sufficient length for the user to set up the ladder properly.
- Overlap of ladder sections, height restrictions of the highest standing level, and where appropriate, the extension of the ladder above the roofline. The highest standing level should be four rungs down from the ladder top. Note that it is advisable not to stand on the ladder higher than the support points or roofline.
CHOOSE THE SUITABLE LADDER BASED ON THE DUTY CONDITION
- Select a proper duty series of ladder from the figure below. There is a variety of ladders which each carries different load capacity. The load capacity has included the total weight of user and the item carried by the user. Example: Human weight and the air conditioning compressor weight.
CHECKING THE LADDER BEFORE USE
- Inspect thoroughly for any missing or damaged components. Note that never use a damaged ladder or make any replacement “parts” for temporary use.
- Inspect thoroughly for any loose fasteners such as blind rivets, bolts, nuts, hinges, brackets, etc. Make sure all the small, tiny parts are in good condition. (If necessary, apply lubricating oil or grease to avoid the fasteners from being rusty.)
SAFETY AWARENESS BEFORE USE
- Metal ladders will conduct electricity. Keep away from the electrical circuits.
- Consult the manufacturer for use in chemical or other corrosive environments.
- Use the ladder according to the instructions. Do not overload and stand in more than one person.

PROPER CARE AND STORAGE
